Keeneland September Yearling SaleSunday, September 12, 2010 to Sunday, September 26, 2010Lexington, KY |
Entries close May 1
|
- The sale will begin Sunday, September 12th as opposed to Monday as in previous years!
- The first two sessions on Sunday and Monday will be highly selected evening sessions which shall include approximately 100 yearlings each night.
- Keeneland will then sell four consecutive days, Tuesday through Friday. Approximately 325 - 350 selected horses will be sold each day in sessions beginning at 11:00 a.m. (one hour later than start times of previous years)
- Horses in the first week, Tuesday through Friday sessions, will be sold entirely alphabetically beginning with a random letter on Tuesday and sold from that letter for the next four days. In other words, approximately 1300 horses will be sold starting with one letter and running continuously through Friday
- The day off will be Saturday this year. The sale will reconvene in exactly the same format that Keeneland has used in the past starting Sunday, the 19th with a 10:00 a.m. start time.
While the Keeneland selection committee will play an important role this year, we will continue to have significant input placing horses by day. Selecting the appropriate sale book for each yearling in the September Sale is ABSOLUTELY CRITICAL! We will continue to monitor our clients' horses through the Spring in an effort to assist them positioning their horse to ensure the best sale price.
We believe the Keeneland September Sale is the broadest and deepest Thoroughbred auction in the world. It is by far the best sale in which to sell European pedigrees. While there are other sales to choose from, we continue to follow the old adage "when in doubt, sell at Keeneland September". It will be an interesting year and we believe the changes Keeneland has made will have a positive impact on the sale results.
